Wellbeing

Approach your work with care. Meet yourself with kindness.

Being your best self is not about always feeling composed or achieving more. It is about making space for your needs, accepting your limits and finding ways to move through life in dentistry with a little more grace.

Care for the person behind the profession

Notice what you need

When your schedule allows, pause between tasks and check in with yourself. Are you thirsty, tense or ready for a break? A drink of water, a gentle stretch or a moment away from the screen can be a small act of care, not another task to perfect.

Reflect without turning on yourself

After a challenging moment, separate what happened from what you tell yourself about it. Consider what you can learn, what needs appropriate follow-up and what support might help. Being compassionate with yourself can sit alongside accountability and professional standards.

Let restoration look like you

Rest does not have to be an elaborate routine. A quiet evening, time outdoors, a favourite hobby or an honest conversation may feel more useful than a long checklist. Notice what leaves you feeling cared for, and make room for it when you can.

You do not have to carry everything alone

A trusted colleague, mentor or someone close to you can offer perspective. Respect patient confidentiality in conversations about work. If distress persists or affects your daily life, seek appropriate support from a qualified healthcare or mental health professional.

One gentle question

What would caring for myself look like today, with the time and energy I actually have?

Let the answer be small. You can choose again tomorrow.

Your best self is still human.

You do not have to perfect every part of your life to care for it. A small boundary, a quiet pause or a fresh start can be enough for today.
